Mark Kneppers, Oscar De Jong and Wim Plug, aka Kraak & Smaak released their debut CD, Boogie Angst, in 2005 on UK label Jalapeno Records and was subsequently licensed to PIAS in the Netherlands, the KSR label in Japan and to Quango Music in the US, to critical acclaim and, more importantly to fan’s delight. In May 2007 the Dutch trio released a collection of rarities and remixes, entitled The Remix Sessions. Music lovers everywhere have rejoiced as hard-to-find tracks, many of which were only released on vinyl, were assembled in this boogie-licious showcase of remixes from such renowned artists as Jamiroquai, Bitter:Sweet, Dorfmeister vs MDLA, Mark Rae and Skeewiff. Kraak & Smaak’s second artist album is expected to hit the shops at the end of 2007 or early 2008. Eclectic tastes and voracious musical appetites are something that all three members of Kraak & Smaak relate to and have used to help create the musical synergy and energy-charged live and dj shows that have been winning world audiences over. Highlights up until now included playing at the Pinkpop and Sziget festivals, and a support slot for Faithless. Early 2007 Kraak & Smaak kicked out blazing sets at the Good Vibrations festival tour in Australia, billed in between Snoop Dogg and The Beastie Boys. Moreover, Kraak & Smaak brought their incendiary dance party to SXSW in Austin, WMC in Miami and played sold-out shows to eager fans in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Heralded as “one of the 20 dance acts you must see live” by International DJ Magazine (right alongside dance music giants, The Chemical Brothers), Kraak & Smaak “play a tight, dancefloor-friendly blend of house, breaks, funk and soul. They’re guaranteed to get any party started.”
Kraak & Smaak were recently recognized by their peers with the prestigious ‘Best Dutch DJs / Producers 2006’ award.
